In nature, there are many famous plants that people actively use. One of these plants is grapes. We love to enjoy drinks made from grapes, we actively use cosmetics based on it, but we do not suspect at all that in order to grow it, you need to spend a lot of time and effort to get a strong and productive plant.

Description and properties of grapes

The grape is a world famous fruit plant. It can be found in most countries of the world. This is due to its immense popularity and degree of application. The fruits of grapes contain many useful substances:

  • Cellulose
  • Vitamin B
  • Sugar
  • Organic acids
  • Enzymes
  • Trace elements

Grapes have a positive effect on the activity of the bone marrow, helps in the production of blood in the body. One glass of grape juice contains the daily norm of vitamins of group B and C. Moreover, the assimilation of the latter is especially active, since the grapes contain components that accelerate the assimilation of the "health vitamin" by the body.

Grapes are recommended for patients with reduced digestive function of the stomach. The content of antioxidants allows the extract of this plant to be used for the production of cosmetics. These substances include:

  • Tannin
  • Anthocyanin
  • Rasveratol

In addition, metabolism is normalized, blood saturation occurs. When choosing grapes, do not forget that today the world knows about eight thousand varieties, each of which has its own unique properties.

Propagation of grapes

One of the most popular methods for propagating grapes is with green cuttings. To carry out this procedure, it is necessary to carry out a number of actions:

  • Cut the cuttings in the spring before flowering
  • Immediately place the cut cuttings in clean water or light nutrient solution
  • Take the stalk out of the water for a while
  • Cut the cuttings into pieces with two buds
  • Put the cut pieces back in water or nutrient solution
  • Make a corner cut at the bottom of each cutting
  • Plant ready-made cuttings in a box or separate small pots / cups
  • After active summer growth, the seedlings must be placed in the cellar for autumn-winter storage.
  • After hibernation, seedlings are planted in buckets for summer germination
  • Plant the received seedlings in September

These actions must be carried out in strict sequence without disturbing the order, otherwise the seedlings will die. Cutting cuttings in spring is due to the fact that seedlings require strong fresh parts of the plant, which can strengthen after cutting and grow.

The need to use water or a light nutrient solution is due to the needs of the plant, which, like humans, requires a minimum set of nutrients to preserve itself.

Cutting the cuttings into parts and preparing the incisions are necessary in order for the plant to grow and settle in a new environment for itself. A fresh cut helps the cuttings find a bond with the earth for metabolism.

Seeding prepared cuttings back into the ground is a laborious process. It is necessary to prepare a good breeding ground for the future plant so that it can survive and begin to actively develop.

The period of autumn-winter hibernation is typical for all plants, the seedlings of which take more than one season. They need to be kept viable so that they can grow at the start of the next season. After the grape cuttings are connected, they can be planted in open ground in a network. This will be the final point in grape propagation by cuttings.

Harvesting cuttings

To carry out seedlings of grape cuttings, you must first prepare them before the winter period. Preparation begins with an autumn cut. In this case, it is necessary to carry out a number of actions:

  • Trim cuttings with shoots 7-10 mm in diameter
  • Cut off all shoots, tendrils, leaves and unripe tops on the cutting
  • Leave four buds on the cuttings
  • The cutting of the cutting is carried out at an angle a few centimeters above the upper kidney
  • On the lower part, three cuts are made up to three centimeters long
  • Mark each stalk according to the variety and bundle
  • The bundles are placed in water for a day
  • The bundles are etched with a 5% solution of copper sulfate and dried
  • The bundles are wrapped in a plastic bag and sent for storage in a refrigerator or cellar

Pruning cuttings is a very important step in preparing for future seedlings. Incorrect cutting of grape parts will not allow the cuttings obtained to be preserved until spring, because they will simply dry up and die. Removing excess parts is necessary in order for the cutting to retain its ability to grow as much as possible.

The four buds left on the cuttings provide the necessary springboard to stimulate spring growth of the cuttings and anchor them in the ground. An incision at an angle in the upper part of the cutting, as well as making three vertical cuts from the bottom, provides a connection of the harvested cutting after seedling into the ground for the normal metabolism in the plant.

Variety labeling is essential to prevent the plants from dying. Being in a closed environment in a state of hibernation, different varieties are capable of infecting each other, selecting useful substances for growth. Being in a homogeneous environment, the grape cuttings will not preserve each other.

Treatment with water and vitriol solution is necessary to create a supply of nutrients for hibernation. In such conditions, grape cuttings can safely survive the winter cold.

The polyethylene wrap allows you to preserve the viability of the harvested cuttings. They will not open ahead of time and will not die from the cold.

Planting cuttings

Planting grape cuttings begins in the spring. A couple of weeks before planting in open ground, the workpieces are planted in small glasses so that the plant can adapt and come out of hibernation. Before this, the cuttings must be moistened with warm water and kept in this state for two days.

Germination in glasses is carried out as follows:

  • Prepare plastic cups with three small holes in the bottom
  • Pour a mixture of earth and leaf humus into glasses with a layer of two centimeters
  • Pour a small layer of washed sand on top
  • In the center of the earthen mixture, make a depression four centimeters and put the cutting there
  • Pour another four centimeters of a similar earthen mixture and sprinkle with water

After germination in glasses, you can transplant the awakened cuttings into open ground. Professionals and amateurs recommend doing this not earlier than the moment when the average daily air temperature is above zero degrees. In this case, it is necessary to prepare the landing site. In this case, it is recommended to pre-treat the planting site with urea and slightly moisten it with water. After that, you need to wait for a pause of two hours and you can safely start planting grape seedlings.

Planting grapes, like any other cultivated plant, only at first glance seems like a simple process, but in reality everything looks completely different. Not only can you just cut off a branch and stick it into the ground, watering it with water. You will need to carry out painstaking preparation in the form of cutting blank cuttings, which also have to be carefully processed. Next, you need to save the prepared material during the hibernation period, and then gently "wake up" the harvesting of seedlings. so be patient.
