The shape of the fruit is round-conical, widening at the stalk, heterogeneous. Average weight is about 10g. The first berries are always larger and can weigh up to 30g. The yield indicators are high. One bush yields 1.5 kg of berries, about 4 kg are obtained per square meter.

The color of the fruit is red, when ripe it is dark red. The pulp is dense, contains an optimal amount of juice and dry matter, suitable for freezing and all types of processing. Sweet and sour taste, with a strong aroma.

The fruit separates well from the stalk. It begins to bloom in May. The first berries ripen in mid-June. Long ripening, lasting about a month, is typical for the variety. In cold, rainy summers, gray molds can attack the crop. The variety is prone to leaf spot. The main pest is strawberry mite. It is immune to a number of diseases. Not scary:

  • verticulosis
  • powdery mildew

  • late blight of roots

Strawberry bushes tolerate low temperatures (-24 °) well. Especially in snowy winters. They are able to recover after frost damage. Heat, drought affect the quality of the crop. It tolerates transportation relatively well. Recommended to grow for homemade preparations. The compote and jelly from Zenga Zengan berries have an excellent taste.

Benefits of Strawberry Zenga Zengana

The characteristics of the variety determine its popularity over time. List of main advantages:

How to grow and care

Strawberries will grow on the bed for at least 6 years. The correct choice of location largely determines the future yield of the plantation. Site requirements:

  • no shade during daylight hours
  • location in the southern or central part of the garden (vegetable garden)
  • no draft
  • light, fertile soil

To plant, strawberry seedlings should be in the spring, and the preparation of the ridges should be done in the fall. Dig up the site well. Select weed roots and other plant residues. To improve the structure of the soil and increase fertility, add per square meter:

  • humus - 0.5 buckets
  • superphosphate - 2 tbsp. l.
  • potash fertilizer - 1 tbsp. l.
  • wood ash - 1 glass

Adequate space is required for tall bushes. Recommend landing schemes:

  • one-line
  • two-line

One line outline: outline the rows. The row spacing should be 0.7 m. Along the row, with an interval of 0.2 m, dig shallow holes (12 cm). Two-line scheme: the lines are 0.30 m apart, the distance between the holes is 0.20 m. The row spacing is at least 0.7 m.

Zenga Zengana strawberries, often suffer from gray rot. Disease can be avoided by buying black PVC film and covering the ground in the aisles. It is recommended to lay straw on the surface of the film, excludes overheating of the roots on hot summer days.

Plant another late strawberry near Zenga Zengan's plot. This is for pollination. When planting, do not deepen the central kidney. Place the roots in the hole without bends. Shed the planting, cover the soil under the bushes with a layer of mulch.

Strawberry care in spring and summer

Regular watering is the main part of the care. The weather determines the frequency and volume. In hot summers with moderate rainfall, water every week. Watering in the morning is favorable. Drip irrigation is optimal. Water does not get on the leaves of the plant, it evenly moisturizes the soil.

Fertilizers are no less important than watering; when applying, adhere to the scheme:

  1. Fertilize for the first time in early spring.
  2. Clean the land of last year's mulch, scatter urea or other nitrogen fertilizer, and loosen the soil.
  3. The appearance of leaves is a signal for a second feeding.

You will need organic matter. Prepare an infusion of mullein and ammonium sulfate. Water the ridges with water before fertilizing. The third dressing is needed before flowering. To prepare the solution, you will need potassium sulfate or nitroammofosk. The fourth top dressing is at the end of July, when the crop has already been harvested. Pour wood ash infusion over the ridges.
