Strawberry processing in spring: preparing for the new berry season

Spring will soon fully come into its own, and the gardener now needs to think about how to prepare a plot with strawberries for the new season. If you notice that you have a lot of dry bushes that have not survived the winter, this is a signal that you need to look for a new site.

What does the processing of strawberries in the spring involve? Experts in berry care advise to remove the topsoil between the bushes and thus get rid of many pests. If this is beyond your power, then it is imperative to loosen the ground between the rows, at least to a depth of 6-8 cm, to clear the area of weeds.

All old dead leaves are removed from the bushes and only then fertilizers are applied. A solution is made from a tablespoon of ammonium sulfate, two glasses of mullein, which are diluted with 10 liters of water. At least a liter of fertilizer is applied under the bush. After each top dressing or rain, it is advisable to loosen the soil.

The second feeding of strawberries is done before flowering. Fertilizer composition: 2 tablespoons of nitrophosphate and a teaspoon of potassium sulfate per 10 liters of water. All dressings are applied at the root of the bush.

If the spring is dry, then it is advisable to water the strawberry bushes. It is important to remember that if flowers appear, then pour water only under the bush so as not to harm them. In case of heavy precipitation, it is recommended to cover flowering strawberries with a film.

Proper processing of strawberries in spring is a guarantee of a high and high-quality harvest.
