We had two old acacias growing near our house; they were cut off last fall. What is the best way to get rid of it so that it does not grow again?

Acacia does not reproduce by chips, but by seeds. Therefore, if you cut off all the young growth that has appeared with a pruner, then a new one will definitely not appear next year. You just need to cut it off right away, and not wait a year or two. Once the roots are firm, it will be more difficult to get rid of the acacia.
